Dominick Mayer

Ever since G-Side recommended him to me during an interview at last year’s Pitchfork festival, I’ve been way into Kendrick Lamar. Part of the West Coast’s Black Hippy crew (also home to fellow next big thing Schoolboy Q), Lamar’s style recalls a more socially conscious Dr. Dre while also incorporating the breakneck double-time deliveries of Outkast and some of the South’s luminaries. For the past week or so, I’ve been listening to almost nothing but “Rigamortis,” which has not only one of the most bad ass hooks in recent hip-hop history, but also an absolutely ridiculous final verse.
