I am not sure how a seven piece from San Francisco that plays indie rock has in common with a former pop princess turned bat-shit crazy paparazzi star, but I am sure glad that a correlation was somehow made. Or, the Whale has been a consistent favorite on HEAVEmedia and with other critics as well, with their sophomore album Or, the Whale receiving very positive reviews. What made them cover Britney Spears? That's a question you'd have to ask the band. Or, the Whale turns Britney's classic pop hit “Toxic” and turns it into the saddest country song you've ever heard. Funny how a Britney Spears song can sound so romantic when handled with a little tenderness. Lead vocalist Alex Robins approaches the band's cover of the song with the same care he would for any Or, the Whale song and makes it into something that's enjoyable for anyone. But don't just take my word for it, take a listen below.
