The F Yeah Tour is a bunch of awesome musicians, comedians, and artist traveling in a 92 Bluebird bus around the country spreading fun and rock as they go. The lovely folks at the tour are letting us give away a pair of tickets, but you have to work fast in order to win.

We posted a bulletin on Myspace, so either go read the post if you’re already our friend (which you should be, right?) or friend us so you don’t loose out on cool prizes like this one. And if you aren’t the lucky winner, head out to the show anyways, because it should be total dance party awesome time (Imagine I said that last part in a cool robot voice, because I did). Below are the details for the show:

Good luck! And if you do head out to the show be on the lookout, I’ll be there reviewing the show (and dancing like crazy to Matt & Kim) and posting about it later right here on the Heave blog.

MySpace has settled their copyright lawsuit with Universal Music Group, paving the way for the launch of MySpace Music. Other major labels on board include Sony-BMG and Warner Music Group. The only major label that’s not on board is EMI. The service will allow users to stream music, purchase MP3 downloads, ringtones, concert tickets and merchandise. Already, it’s being heralded as major competition to iTunes, due to the huge user base of the site. The official announcement could come “in days” according to Reuters.

UPDATE

It’s official.  The following is from allaccess.com

MYSPACE MUSIC product will integrate new content and music capabilities across three primary areas: the MYSPACE MUSIC home page, the site’s more than five million artist profile pages and individual user home pages, providing bands and fans multiple touch points to discover, share and purchase music and merchandise in one place for the portable device of their choosing. MYSPACE MUSIC empowers bands and fans with unprecedented digital music service and e-commerce platform within MYSPACE that will include DRM-free digital downloads, ad-supported audio and video streaming, a mobile storefront (powered by NEWS Corporation’s JAMBA mobile company), as well as various sponsorship solutions.

For users, MYSPACE MUSIC will enable the site’s global community to discover music and then download, stream and personalize music content. The personalized music management product will allow users to control their entire MYSPACE MUSIC experience directly from their user page by creating playlists and having access to enhanced purchase opportunities and search functionality.

For the labels’ artists, the formation of MYSPACE MUSIC will offer them the opportunity to provide their fans with digital downloads as well as mobile ringtones, SMS, and artist wallpapers, all directly from their artist profiles. Additionally, artists will be able to evolve their MYSPACE experience beyond the promotional by now monetizing their full repository of content with a 360-degree solution, including not only the sale of digital content, but also physical goods such as T-shirts and concert tickets.

In an effort to curb profit losses due to music downloading, Warner Music has proposed a mandatory $5 tax to be tacked onto everyone’s internet bill. In exchange you’d have access to basically all music in the history of ever. Don’t get so excited though…the fine print shows the true evil behind this bill. It would screw artists hardcore. In the face of a slow sales week and the absence of a major new debut, Jack Johnson’s latest disc held on to the top spot on the charts. “Sleep Through the Static” moved another 105,000 discs, making it three consecutive weeks at number one. Alicia Keys continues to be a chart force with “As I Am,” which has been in stores for nearly three months yet still managed to sell 53,000 copies and claim the number two spot. Keys’ sales have been helped by two hit singles and a strong performance on the Grammys early in the month. Multiple Grammy winner and needle-drug enthusiast Amy Winehouse is also experiencing a bump from her performance on the award show, as “Back to Black” falls just shy of the number two spot with 52,000 copies.

The 13th edition of the “Kidz Bop” series, which features the kids from the “more Ovaltine, please!” commercials covering popular songs, debuts at number four with 49,000 copies. Experts believe that the use of the letter “z” in the word “kidz” may, in fact, be the driving force behind the series’ successful chart run. The fifth spot goes to the “Step Up 2: The Streets” soundtrack, which pushed 43,000 units. Right behind in sixth place was the soundtrack to “Juno,” which sold another 38,000 copies.

Buoyed by a hit single, Sara Bareilles’ “Little Voices” jumped up 9% to the seventh spot with 37,000 copies, a new high for Bareilles. Chris Cagle’s “My Life’s Been a Country Song” debuts at number eight with just under 37,000, while Mary J. Blige grabbed the ninth spot with 35,000 copies of her hit “Growing Pains.” Taylor Swift’s self-titled album rounds out the top ten selling 33,000 discs.

It reminds me of the time I found out about the group “emocappella.” An A cappella group that covered various songs by Taking Back Sunday and Saves the Day. It begs the question, are these guys really cool or incredibly nerdy? It’s a fine line.

Interesting statistic here regarding Teen culture courtesy of USA Today :

Nearly half (48%) did not buy even one shiny plastic disc last year, as the shift to downloads — legal and illegal — continued to change the musical landscape, according to research firm NPD Group. For 2006, 38% of teens reported not buying any compact discs.

So who’s buying CD’s, Vinyl, Cassettes, 8-track, Reel-To-Reel??????
